Holy hex balls, this is a great story. It had been my favorite Savage story in the original version, but this expanded version is that much better! It has more meat to the conflict and the stakes are higher than the original, yet it still has that trademark Savage style that I love so much.I love River. She's very real, with real insecurities, real dreams, and then some serious magical skills, and a new element of mystery to her background. I can't say enough about her being a capable woman, a woman who grows stronger over the course of the novel.
And Zac... He is a yummy beta male with just the right mix of sexiness, protectiveness, and "okay, my woman has got this!"
I'd say more, but I'd rather just suggest you read this yourself. There's a tiny bit of coarse language, and some mildly graphic sexy times, but not too heavy on either. It remains my favorite Savage shifter novel! Just read it, already. 😉
Oh, and I can't wait to read the next book - Better than Hex. Already have it pre-ordered!

I can't wait to read more.
River and Zac have chemistry. Ms. Savage has done it again. Characters are developed and the story moves along with no dull parts. It was fun to see characters from her dragon series mentioned as friends of River. I recommend this book if you want a fun read and a good story.
I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the story and then fell madly in live with River and Zac. Hope to see the story include the dragons and the wolves.... And the great relationship that that all weave..

Looking for a great story and heroine? Then look no further! I was enthralled by page 1 and I was sad when the book ended! I can't wait for the 2nd book! Vivienne Savage did it again!
Interesting and enjoyable enough for me to re-purchase, this updated and expanded version. Rated the previous version with the note that I would have liked more, which is being provided with this version and a second story (I've also already pre-ordered). Sassy female, strong male lead, and a variety of abilities and twists\turns, with more to come makes me a happy camper!
I've fallen completely in love with the world Vivienne Savage has created. Impractical Magic is yet another fantastic book that I found impossible to put down. I stayed up late with my in hand to find out how it ended.
River is a real person, with insecurities and doubt despite her badassery and magical Kung fu. Zac is a sexy as hell shifter whose inability to sense magic seems to be his biggest downfall. The chemistry between the two is insane, and would probably incinerate any lesser beings. Loved this book and I can't wait to read more!
I'm a big fan of friends to lovers, but add in witches and shifters? Even better! They are just adorable together <3 River is every woman with her worries and doubts, yet she's a complete badass with a take no crap attitude. Zac is sweet and protective, the kind of guy you want to take home to meet your mom, but so hot you have to pull over for a quickie on the way home. I really liked the original short, but love this second version and can't wait for book 2!
