Elle Druskin's story made me laugh so hard my sides ached, and split a time or two, and my head grow a bit lightheaded. I also ended up with this goofy smile affixed to my lips that had onlookers wonder about the state of my IQ.
I, Ladybug Lin loved this story.
Ms. Druskin knows how to create fun for her readers, and that is quite a talent. Writing humor effectively, is, I think the hardest form of creative writing there is, but Ms. Druskin pulls it off so well, it looks and feels easy.

Hayley Weaver has really stepped in it this time (poo, that is, literally. A day that began began with a run in her nylons has ended with her not only getting passed up for VP, but getting "downsized" out of her job entirely, nearly getting run over, and losing both her boyfriend and her Brownstone in the same instant.
Enter Paulette Stone, and what appears to be the answer to Hayley's prayers. Her house-sitting job seems just too good to be true, and couldn't have come at a better time! There's just one catch Paulette is a bit... eccentric... And so are her collection of rare animals... Who also live in the house that Hayley has signed on to house-sit... Which happens not to be in chic SoHo, or Manhattan, but Liberty Heights, NJ...
Yes, it seems Paulette's job is the perfect solution for Hayley Weaver, the woman who hates animals AND New Jersey...
Animal Crackers is a quick, loveable, fun romance that really draws you in. You'll find yourself routing for the characters (I have never wanted two people to get it together more than Hayley and Jake!), and feeling like they're old friends. And the animals! Oh my! I want a Henry (does that sound as weird as it looks in print?) of my own!! And Antoine and Pansy (and her affordable hair styling) are a RIOT!!
I will make you a couple of predictions about this book
One You WILL laugh. Out loud. There are some moments in this book where I cracked up, all by myself (people at the Laundromat must have thought I was as crazy as Paulette!).
And Two You will fall in love with Liberty Heights, that much I am sure of. There is nothing like the tight-knit (if a little wacky) community of characters in this little Jersey town. You will come back for more Liberty Heights (although, I'm pretty sure you can't escape once you're in, anyway!).
This is a fun, light, romance that makes you smile all the way through it and might make you laugh.
I really enjoyed Animal Crackers. The characters were well developed and the story line was fun and easy to follow. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. I highly recommend this book!
How lovely to read Animal Crackers. Great characters and lots of fun. I needed a gentle, funny read to help me relax over the holidays and Animal Crackers was perfect.
Everyone of her books in this series is hysterical. Elle Druskin's writing keeps you going and going and finding it hard to put your kindle down. Love her story lines, find myself laughing out loud repeatedly, can't wait for more additions to this series.
